Zone soccer/football tournament.

WOW! What a cracker day we all had at the Zone Soccer. The weather had looked a bit dodgy first thing in the morning but it couldn't have been better as the day went on! Not to hot for the athletes and not too cold for Mum and Dad.

Congratulations to the senior teams who did so well and won their age group title. And well done to all those who showed great skill, great sportsmanship and had great fun doing their very best.

Thanks also to the parents who managed teams. They did a great job in keeping everyone together and rotating subs, making the whole day run smoothly.

PET-DAY CANCELLATION :(

What a shame the Pet-Day was called off :(

The 3D sculpture Art work that was on display in the library was absolutely amazing! Well done and congratulations to all those who won certificates for their work.

Have a great long-weekend.

Inquiry topic study. What's it all about?

Inquiry this Term

" Making our community a better place, with a focus on SUSTAINABILITY"

The students at Tokanui have been looking to develop a wasted space of the school grounds.
Room Wha and Rima are working together on the huge task of brainstorming all our ideas about how an area could be developed and for what kinds of activities the developed area could be used for.

There have been heaps of ideas from large flat areas of grass for outdoor assemblies, to tunnel houses for growing veggies and planting lots of native trees and plants that might encourage animals, large and small to thrive in great new habitats.

There is a lot of interesting ways to explore what this topic of investigation could help us to discover and learn about conservation and sustainability.
We have visitors coming to give us advice, and heaps of sites we can look at for information and ideas.

Term 4 2014

Term 4 2014

Welcome back everyone at Tokanui School! What an amazingly sunny, hot day for our first day back!

A big welcome to a new student in Room Wha this term. Zakaia lives on a dairy farm in Otara and has already seemed to fit straight in to our class after his first day!

Week 4 / Term 3 SPEECHES

Having set the speeches this term, as mainly a homework task while we studied the different aspects of persuasive writing in class, I was blown away with the effort that children had obviously put into their preparation for sharing their speech in class!

What an amazing set of speeches!

All of Room Wha can be very proud of themselves.
